Clinical Nurse Specialists as Catalysts for Health System Transformation: Advancing Quality, Innovation, Workforce Sustainability, and Population Health

Join us Thursday, November 19 from 1600-1700H for a free virtual session: "Clinical Nurse Specialists as Catalysts for Health System Transformation: Advancing Quality, Innovation, Workforce Sustainability, and Population Health ” by Victoria Casas-Alcuaz, followed by a CNSABC Members General Meeting.

Health systems globally face escalating demands driven by population aging, increasing complexity of care, workforce shortages, health inequities, and financial constraints. Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs) are advanced practice nurses prepared at the master's or doctoral level who possess expertise in clinical care, evidence implementation, quality improvement, systems leadership, and knowledge translation. Evidence from British Columbia demonstrates that CNSs improve patient outcomes, accelerate innovation, strengthen nursing practice, support workforce retention, and contribute to health system transformation.

Victoria Casas-Alcuaz is the Regional Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for the Frail Elderly-Older Adult Network of Fraser Health in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC), Canada. She is an avid hiker and has yet to finish writing her first novel and book of poetry.

She recently finished her second Camino de Santiago de Compostela trekking 400kms across the Pyrenees Mountains in France all the way to partying in Madrid, Spain as they won the World Cup this July. She also just spoke at the ICN NP/APN Conference in Nashville, TN this September then straight to the CNA Conference in Winnipeg, MB.
